What are the responsibilities and job description for the Personal Care Assistant for Elementary School position at Gettysburg Montessori Charter School?
Evaluation:
This position is evaluated at least annually by the Assistant Principal with input from Classroom teachers. Evaluation is based upon fulfillment of duties and responsibilities listed in the job description below.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to work effectively with teachers, parents, and students.
- Excellent organizational skills.
Responsibilities: The essential job functions include but are not limited to, the following fundamental duties:
- Work with students with disabilities or who are in the process of eligibility determination.
- Use only the strategies and behavior charts/incentives determined by the psychologist, teacher, or GMCS administrative team to help the student meet goals.
- Only assist the student you are assigned to.
- Assist a student in self-sufficiency, communication, interpersonal, social, academic, transitions, mobility skills and possibly toileting needs.
- Verbally or nonverbally, redirect the student to help with focus, to attend to a task, or to avoid escalation.
- If needed, assist the assigned student with fine and/or gross motor skills and/or assist the student on/off the van.
- If needed, under the teacher’s approval, escort the student to a nurse, or counselor, or for a walk.
- Must complete professional development as directed by GMCS.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From $16.00 per hour
Expected hours: 29.75 per week
