Gettysburg College, in historic Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic professional for a full-time position as General Manager of the Spirit Store. Gettysburg is an undergraduate liberal arts and sciences college enrolling approximately 2,200 primarily residential students. This is a full-time, 12-month administrative position reporting to the Director of Auxiliary Services.
The General Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of Spirit Store operations, including but not limited to:
- Managing daily store operations, staffing, scheduling, and employee development
- Developing and executing merchandising strategies that reflect Gettysburg College’s brand and traditions
- Managing store budgets, inventory, vendor relationships, and financial reporting
- Delivering exceptional customer service to students, alumni, families, faculty, and staff
- Planning and coordinating retail operations for campus events including Orientation, Homecoming, Commencement, and Reunion Weekend
- Collaborating with Communications and Marketing, Athletics, Admissions, and Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving departments
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have:
- Have earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Retail Management, or related field, or equivalent experience
- Minimum 3–5 years of retail management experience
- Proven track record in inventory management and financial oversight
- Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills
- Experience in collegiate or campus retail preferred
- Familiarity with e-commerce platforms and visual merchandising a plus
- Must be available for evenings and weekends as needed for special events
