Activities Coordinator – Assisted Living
Job Summary
The Activities Coordinator is responsible for planning, organizing, and leading engaging recreational, social, educational, and wellness programs for residents in an assisted living community. This role helps enhance residents' quality of life, promotes social interaction, supports physical and cognitive well-being, and ensures activities meet the diverse interests and abilities of residents.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a monthly activities calendar that includes recreational, educational, cultural, spiritual, and fitness programs.
- Plan and coordinate special events, holiday celebrations, resident outings, and community engagement opportunities.
- Lead group and individual activities that encourage participation, socialization, and resident satisfaction.
- Assess residents' interests, needs, and abilities to create meaningful programming.
- Collaborate with nursing staff, caregivers, families, and community organizations to enhance activity offerings.
- Arrange transportation and logistics for resident outings when needed.
- Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers assisting with activities and events.
- Maintain accurate activity records, attendance logs, and program evaluations.
- Manage activity supplies, equipment, and budget within established guidelines.
- Ensure activities comply with facility policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Encourage resident involvement and feedback to continuously improve programs.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy, Gerontology, Social Work, or a related field preferred.
- Experience working with older adults in assisted living, senior care, healthcare, or recreational programming preferred.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lead group activities and motivate resident participation.
- Knowledge of dementia-friendly and senior-centered activities is a plus.
- Proficiency with basic computer applications and recordkeeping
- Proficiency with internet and ability to integrate into activities.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 25 pounds.

- Assisted living community setting.
- May require evening, weekend, and holiday hours for special events and resident programs.
Reports To
Executive Director.
Pay: $18.00 - $19.50 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 20.0 per week
