What are the responsibilities and job description for the Co-Founder & CTO position at GetSoulbound?
Co-Founder & CTO — Soulbound
Stage: Pre-seed · Equity: 10–15% · Location: Austin, TX (preferred)
Soulbound is a dating app built for self-reflective people who are done with swipe culture. We start with a 20-minute AI-powered soul interview that uncovers your attachment style, love language, and core values — then distills that into a tarot-style "Soul Card" that captures who you are in love. From there, we surface highly compatible matches and step back, letting human connection take over naturally. Currently in beta and preparing for our Austin launch, we're looking for a technical co-founder to build it with us.
What you'll own
- Technical strategy and architecture — from mobile to backend to AI-powered matching infrastructure
- Overseeing product development and ensuring the platform is secure, scalable, and innovative
- Building and leading the early engineering team post-funding
- Aligning the technical roadmap with business objectives alongside the co-founding team
- Co-presenting the technical vision to investors and contributing to partnerships and strategy
What we're looking for
- Technical expertise in software development, scalable architecture, and AI-based platforms
- Experience building and managing engineering teams in a startup environment
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to make sound, data-driven decisions
- Clear communicator — able to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, investors, and partners
- Entrepreneurial mindset: comfortable with ambiguity and energized by 0→1 building
- Familiarity with user acquisition, growth, or go-to-market strategy is a plus
- Passion for user-centered products; interest in psychology, relationships, or personal growth is a genuine plus
