Director, Business Area Communication (Remote, US)
Job Purpose
The position leads strategic communication for the Surgical Workplaces business area, accountable for all internal and external communication activities developed and implemented to drive business growth and strengthen reputation. You will partner with a global communications team to launch impactful programs and activities that strengthen Getinge’s commercial leadership position and offerings, manage issues, strengthen relationships with strategic stakeholders, and motivate and retain a diverse and global workforce.
Core activities will include but are not limited to executive thought leadership, organizational comms, financial comms, clinical and data science comms, event and medical meeting communications, media relations, and issues management. As a member of both the Global Brand and Communications Leadership Team and the SW Leadership Team, this role offers a unique opportunity to shape the communication strategy during pivotal growth and transformation efforts, enhancing reputation, driving organizational alignment and sustained employee engagement within Getinge.
- External Corporate Communications and positioning: Strategic narrative, executive thought leadership, financial comms, clinical and data science comms, event and medical meeting communications, media relations, and issues management
- Employee and internal communications: Employee communications strategy, management of key communications channels, change management communications
- Leadership: Contributions to functional excellence, strategic leadership partnership for business platforms, performance and developing strong corporate communications capabilities to support the business
- Sets communication strategy and direction to enable business growth, build brand reputation, impact society, and fuel employee engagement.
- Drives alignment, capability sharing, and execution across global and regional communication colleagues.
- Collaborates closely with the Leadership team for the SW business, Customer Experience, CommOps, regional marketing teams, HR and Investor Relations, among others, to drive aligned messaging for key audiences and stakeholders.
- Harnesses innovative communication approaches to build media, investor, and physician confidence in the company’s innovation pipeline and to drive uptake for new product introductions.
- Serves as a trusted advisor to senior business leaders, preparing them for media interviews, speeches and presentations, investor and board meetings, impactful social media presence and external thought leadership.
- Leads communications for M&A activity
- Implements strategies to drive employee engagement and position Getinge as the employer of choice.
- Ensures operational excellence and oversees external agencies, manages budget, measures and reports on effectiveness of activations.
- Sits on the cross-functional ACT Leadership Team
- Builds strong employee transformation communications capabilities that effectively facilitates the SW business to collaborate across organizational boundaries.
- Establish and enforce internal communication brand standards, ensuring alignment with overall corporate branding.
- Lead the development and enhancement of digital communication platforms for use specific to transformation and change communications (e.g., intranet, transformation apps).
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of communication strategies specific to transformation and change using metrics such as employee feedback, intranet engagement, and post-event surveys.
- Drive continuous improvement in communications processes and infrastructure.
- Ensure risk mitigation in communication through preemptive planning and consistent stakeholder alignment.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or related field.
- Advanced degree (e.g., MBA, Master’s in Communications) preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in corporate communications, including internal and external communications, public relations, crisis communication, and executive communications.
- Proven experience in global communications strategy, executive engagement, with a strong understanding of cross-cultural communication.
- Strategic thinking and leadership in communications, with strong interpersonal and advisory skills with senior executives.
- Strong writing, editing, and messaging skills across diverse platforms and audiences.
- Proficiency with digital communication platforms, including social media, intranet, newsletters, and employee engagement tools.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders under tight deadlines.
- Familiarity with ESG, DEI, or CSR communications (increasingly valued in global companies).
- Strong data analysis and reporting capabilities related to communication effectiveness.
Salary : $175,000 - $215,000
