Job Summary
Get It Done Solutions, LLC is seeking a qualified Part-Time Protestant Music Director to support the Protestant Chapel Program at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base.
The Music Director is responsible for planning, coordinating, and leading music for Protestant worship services while supporting the spiritual mission of the Chapel through excellence in music ministry. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the Protestant Chaplain, worship team members, volunteers, and chapel staff to provide meaningful worship experiences for military members, their families, and the broader chapel community.
Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and lead music for weekly Protestant worship services and special religious observances.
- Select music that supports the worship theme in collaboration with the Protestant Chaplain.
- Lead congregational singing while directing vocalists, instrumentalists, and volunteer musicians as needed.
- Conduct rehearsals to ensure musical excellence and worship readiness.
- Recruit, coordinate, and mentor volunteer musicians and vocalists.
- Coordinate music support for seasonal services, holiday worship, memorial services, and other special chapel events as required.
- Maintain music libraries, sheet music, and other Government-furnished music resources.
- Ensure all music ministry activities are conducted in accordance with chapel policies and contract requirements.
- Communicate effectively with chapel leadership regarding worship planning, scheduling, and music ministry needs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Music (or a related field) and/or five (5) or more years of experience in church music ministry, or equivalent academic credentials in a chapel or church setting.
- Demonstrated proficiency playing piano and/or keyboard with the ability to accurately perform written music at the appropriate tempo for worship services.
- Ability to sight-read, arrange, perform, and score music appropriate for Protestant worship services.
- Experience directing choirs, worship teams, vocalists, and instrumentalists during rehearsals and live worship services.
- Ability to lead both traditional and contemporary Protestant worship music, including hymns, praise and worship selections, preludes, postludes, and liturgical music such as the Doxology and Gloria Patri.
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with chaplains, volunteers, chapel staff, and diverse military communities.
- Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Must successfully complete all required background investigations and installation access requirements.
Military chapel experience is preferred but not required.
Schedule
- Part-time
- Approximately 8–10 hours per week
- Sunday worship services required
- Weekday rehearsals and planning meetings as needed
- Additional hours during holidays and special religious events
Compensation & Employment Type
- Pay: $25.00–$36.00 per hour
- Job Type: Part-time, Contract
- Employment Classification: 1099 Independent Contractor
Compensation is based on experience, qualifications, and contract requirements.
