What are the responsibilities and job description for the Junior Buyer (Kitchen) position at Get Fresh Sales?
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Junior Buyer supports the Purchasing Manager by ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement of ingredients, packaging, supplies, and other materials needed to support Get Fresh Kitchen operations. This role works closely with production, warehouse, and vendors to maintain inventory levels, monitor deliveries, and help ensure products are available to meet production schedules while minimizing waste and controlling costs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assist with purchasing ingredients, packaging, and supplies to support daily production.
- Create and submit purchase orders while ensuring accuracy and timely processing.
- Communicate with vendors regarding pricing, product availability, lead times, and deliveries.
- Monitor inventory levels and replenish stock as needed.
- Purchase and transport ingredients and supplies needed for product development and production.
- Work closely with warehouse and production teams to ensure materials are received and available for scheduled production.
- Source ingredients, packaging, and specialty items from vendors and local retailers, including Costco, Restaurant Depot, Sam's Club, and other suppliers
- Follow up on shortages, and delivery issues to minimize production disruptions.
- Verify receiving documentation and resolve discrepancies with vendors.
- Maintain accurate purchasing records, pricing, and vendor information.
- Assist with inventory counts and help identify opportunities to reduce waste and improve inventory accuracy.
- Support cost-saving initiatives by researching products, pricing, and alternative suppliers.
- Ensure purchasing activities comply with company policies and food safety standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Combination of office, warehouse, cooler, and production floor environments.
- May require occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.
- Frequent interaction with warehouse, production, and vendor partners.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- 1–3 years of purchasing, inventory, warehouse, or supply chain experience preferred.
- Experience in food manufacturing, food distribution, or production environments is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Experience using ERP or inventory management systems preferred.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments..
