Systems Administrator
Introduction:
The Systems Administrator will be responsible for supporting the administration and maintenance of Windows servers, storage, and infrastructure systems. They will configure and support virtual servers in VMware and/or Hyper-V environments, perform system patching, updates, and routine maintenance, manage Active Directory users, groups, and basic Group Policy administration, and support core infrastructure services including DNS, DHCP, DFS, and Certificates.
Responsibilities:
- Support the administration and maintenance of Windows servers, storage, and infrastructure systems.
- Configure and support virtual servers in VMware and/or Hyper-V environments.
- Perform system patching, updates, and routine maintenance.
- Manage Active Directory users, groups, and basic Group Policy administration.
- Support core infrastructure services including DNS, DHCP, DFS, and Certificates.
- Perform basic network troubleshooting, including connectivity issues, switch/port status, and configuration problems.
- Monitor system and network health using available monitoring tools.
- Maintain and verify backup systems and participate in disaster recovery testing.
- Assist with deployment and setup of infrastructure equipment such as switches, wireless access points, and cabling.
- Document system configurations, technical procedures, troubleshooting steps, and SOPs.
- Maintain accurate service desk tickets, incident records, and asset/inventory information.
- Participate in infrastructure projects, team meetings, and technical initiatives.
- Provide onsite support at remote locations when required; occasional travel may be necessary.
- Participate in after-hours support and an on-call rotation as assigned.
- Follow established IT procedures, security policies, and operational standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Required Skills:
- 4 years of experience in IT support, help desk, systems administration, or infrastructure support.
- Hands-on experience with Active Directory user and group management.
- Basic understanding of Group Policy.
- Working knowledge of DNS, DHCP, DFS, and basic networking concepts.
- Experience or exposure to VMware and/or Hyper-V.
- Knowledge of backup and recovery concepts.
- Basic PowerShell knowledge.
- Exposure to IT infrastructure and network monitoring tools.
- Experience using ticketing/service desk systems.
- Strong technical documentation and SOP-writing skills.
- Excellent communication and troubleshooting skills.
- Self-motivated, dependable, and eager to learn new technologies.
- Interest in learning and working with cloud platforms, particularly Azure.
Preferred Certifications:
- CompTIA A
- CompTIA Network
- CompTIA Security
- Microsoft Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900)
Additional Requirements:
- Position requires working onsite 5 days per week.
- Ability to travel to remote locations occasionally for infrastructure deployment and support.
- Ability to participate in after-hours support/on-call rotation.
