JOB SUMMARY
The Commercial Manager at Gestamp Chattanooga Plants is responsible for overseeing all cost estimation and commercial evaluation activities. This role involves developing and executing a comprehensive commercial strategy aimed at increasing revenue, improving profitability, and ensuring long-term business sustainability. The manager works closely with cross-functional teams to meet project milestones and deliver accurate, timely quotes that align with the company’s financial goals. By providing strategic guidance and maintaining strong internal and external relationships, the Commercial Manager plays a key role in driving the success of commercial operations for all three Chattanooga sites.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1.Coordinate the costing of quotations with Gestamp Plants, ensuring alignment with established guidelines and managing the commercial aspects of new business opportunities and engineering changes.
2.Create and manage financial models to evaluate the profitability of quotations, ensuring returns meet corporate targets.
3.Collaborate with cost accountants and engineers to maintain standard costing rates used in quotations, with a strong understanding of each plant’s capabilities and capacity.
4.Develop and align cost assumptions for new products and business opportunities in coordination with plant teams.
5.Prepare customer quotations, cost breakdowns, financial models, and other required documentation.
6.Maintain accurate customer pricing data in the system to ensure billing accuracy.
7.Support business planning by understanding long-term customer and pricing agreements.
8.Manage deliverables to Corporate Sales, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
9.Partner with the sales team to define quote parameters for new customer RFQs.
10.Participate in financial and quote review meetings with Gestamp Plants and corporate leadership.
11.Serve as a key interface, building strong relationships with customers, business units, and plant teams.
12.Attend internal and customer meetings as required to support commercial activities.
13.Assist in developing departmental standards and procedures to improve efficiency and consistency.
14.Coordinate supporting quote documents, including Bills of Material, Customer Price Breakdowns, and Statements of Requirements.
15.Actively participate in the Business Planning process to align commercial strategies with company goals.
16.Demonstrate knowledge of and support for the company’s mission, vision, values, policies, procedures, confidentiality standards, and code of ethical behavior.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
1.Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Engineering, or a related field.
2.Minimum of 5 years of experience in costing, financial modeling, analysis, and customer account management.
3.Proven experience in automotive costing and customer account management is required.
4.Prior experience in automotive metal stamping and assembly is preferred.
