Position: Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Environmental Coordinator
Customer: Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Superfund Contract Laboratory Program (CLP)
Position Type: Full-Time
Position Location: Remote, In the Huntsville Alabama area preferred
Position Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain an EPA Position of Trust
Travel Requirements: No travel is expected in this position, but some travel may be required by request of the customer
Salary Range: $50k to $60k
Meaningful Work and Personal Impact:
The work you’ll do at GES will be impactful to the mission of EPA. You will play a crucial role in supporting the EPA Superfund Contract Laboratory Program (CLP). Under limited direction, the EPA SST Environmental Coordinator provides program support and oversight of environmental sample coordination between EPA and CLP laboratories. Effective communication and collaboration with the EPA, CLP laboratories, Prime Contractor, and GES workforce, is a critical component to the success of this position. You will be required to master this skill, and execute it in a timely manner, to ensure positive outcomes through your understanding of standard operating procedures, maintaining communication with all stakeholders, and resolving issues with sample shipments and analysis. This position will require you to use professional, administrative, technical, scientific, analytical, and quality assurance, capabilities to successfully support the EPA’s Mission.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the technical and management direction of the Prime Contractor, you will support centralized production processes, and serve as a logistical, technical, systems, and process interface with the following groups and organizations.
· Analytical Services Branch (ASB)
· Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regional personnel
· Contracted laboratories
· Other Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) programs
You will also be supporting the operation team of the Superfund Quality and Sample Support (QSS) organization. This will include the development of deliverables specified by the Prime Contractor. Deliverables will be in the form of emails summarizing daily communication with external clients and supporting task area managers with delivery of routine reports as needed.
This will include interacting on daily basis via email with the following groups:
· Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
· Commercial laboratories.
· Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Regional Staff.
· Support Contractors to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Reginal Staff.
o Support Contractors (“samplers” teams) and/or (“data validation” teams).
In addition to the requirements above, you will focus your support on:
· Scheduling samples from Superfund sites.
· Sample tracking.
· Analytical data review and assessment.
· Data processing.
· Data interpretation and reporting.
· Research and analysis.
· Policy Analysis.
· Training.
· Guidance document development.
A part of your duties will include providing a draft status report to the GES Program Manager(PM) and a final status report to the Prime Contractor by the 5th business day of every month with the following information:
o Summary of work accomplished during the reporting period and percentage complete.
o Problem areas.
o Schedule of activities planned to complete activities.
What You’ll Need to Succeed:
Bring your environmental science expertise and drive for innovation to GES. The Environmental Coordinator must have:
- US Citizenship required (Required to begin work)
- High school diploma or equivalent (Required to begin work)
- Bachelor of Science(BS) or Bachelor of Arts(BA) in an environmental-focused program or related field required (Required to begin work)
- Recent graduate preferred
- 1 years of related experience
- Background Investigation (Required to begin work)
- Drug Test (Required to begin work)
- Ability to obtain/maintain an EPA Position of Trust (See Below)
· Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to clearly present and communicate technical approaches and findings
- Must have Excellent Customer facing and communication skills and the ability to successfully collaborate with team members
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues with team members
- Excellent skills with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and other office suite applications
· Experience in reviewing and evaluating data-related documents
- Strong understanding of Systems and Analysis skills
· Functional roles include data review and data QC analysts and customer service coordination
An EPA Position of Trust is a federal job designation for roles (including contractors) requiring high-level screening because the work involves public health, safety, security, or sensitive data, with high potential for damage if abused. These roles, often designated as Moderate or High Risk, are overseen by the EPA’s Personnel Security.
