What are the responsibilities and job description for the 1st Shift Forklift Operator position at Gertrude Hawk Chocolates?
Gertrude Hawk Chocolates is a leader in the confectionery industry that manufactures and distributes exceptional chocolates. Founded in 1936, our business is financially strong and continues to grow.
We are a seeking Forklift Operator to join our company. This positions will be responsible to move freight, stock, and other materials to and from storage and production areas, loading docks, delivery vehicles, and containers. Experience with operating electric stand-up reach trucks is desired. Qualified candidates must have previous experience in warehouse material handling. Some of the key responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following:
- Complies with all company and department specific safety, SQF and GMP policies and procedures.
- Read work orders or receive oral instructions to determine work assignments and material and equipment needs.
- Utilizing forklifts and pallet jacks to lift and move pallets and products on/off racking and trucks.
- Handling paperwork associated with the product movements.
- Timely and accurate loading and unloading of incoming and outgoing product.
- Maintaining the integrity of products through proper handling and lot code management.
- Maintain accurate inventories.
- Ensuring safe operation of a forklift.
- Ensure facility maintenance through housekeeping, keeping product and facility secure, and maintaining the assets of the facility.
- This position requires a high level of initiative and the ability to work independently. Forklift experience is a must. Prior forklift certification is a plus.
- Performs other assignments as directed.
Position is available immediately on the following shift: Days 7:30am - 3:30pm
High school diploma or equivalent required.
