What are the responsibilities and job description for the Library Aide position at Germantown School District?
Job Summary: To provide a well-organized, smoothly functioning library environment in which students and staff can take full advantage of the materials available. School year schedule, M-F (8:45 am - 3:45 pm).
Essential Functions and Responsibilities include the following:
Ability to create and maintain a friendly and welcoming learning environment for students and staff.
Assists students and staff with searching and locating library materials.
Manage the circulation of print and non-print materials.
Promotes and assists students and staff in the usage of library databases and resources.
Promotes literature appreciation via involvement in tasks designed to increase appropriate social and academic behavior ie. Library orientation, read-alouds, book talks, catalog search demonstrations.
Maintains library media collection by shelving materials, reading shelves, and repairing books.
Performs general clerical responsibilities such as reports, bibliographies, forms, and library schedules.
Work with GHS and/or KMS library assistants on library processing needs.
Assists in the inventory and weeding of library material.
Maintains current inventory of supplies and suggests items for acquisition as needed.
Reports library technology and equipment problems through the helpdesk system.
Oversees the general neatness and attractiveness of the library and its displays.
Oversees scheduling and use of library technology such as Ipads and Chromebooks.
Marginal Functions:
Perform other duties as assigned by the library supervisor.
Check-in/out with identified students (RtI).
Meeting with other staff members.
Lunch/Recess duties.
Troubleshooting LMC printer.
Participating in school-wide assemblies and activities.

General:
Demonstrated competence in the area of child supervision.
Completion of physical examination as required by Board of Education policy, state, and federal law.
Basic knowledge of keyboarding and computer skills.
Such additions or alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma.
Two years of college coursework, or two years of experience supervising structured youth activities, or any combination of education and experience defined above.
