Health Room Aide (Kennedy Middle School)

JOB GOAL: To provide first aid and other health care to students and report significant health-related problems to District Nurse and/or Building Principal. To maintain accurate records of health concerns including but not limited to absences, medicines, etc.

HEALTH ROOM AIDE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Take care of all students who come into the health room due to illness and/or injuries
2. Keep accurate and detailed records and call the parents/guardians of students that come into the health room as needed
3. Administer daily and as-needed medication to students and keep accurate records
4. Maintain current health condition and other health records
5. Maintain AED
6. Communicate with staff in regards to student health needs which may include but not limited to: concussions, student injuries, chronic health conditions
7. Any other duties assigned by the District Nurse
8. Operate office equipment such as calculator, fax machine, computer, printer, and copier as needed.
9. Assist office staff as needed
10. Any other duties assigned by the Principal and/or District Nurse

The work environment is in a school that combines standard office settings including standard office equipment (fax, copier, phone, computer, 10-key, etc.) within the standard school setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate and occasionally high. The employee may be exposed to outdoor weather conditions, bloodborne pathogens, and other childhood illnesses.

LPN or Parametic experience PreferredCPR/AED Certified
CNA Certification-Preferred
Knowledge of Principles and Practices of First Aid-Preferred
First Aide-Required and may be offered through School District
High School Graduate
Interest in Working with Children
Ability to Communicate Effectively
Simple Record Keeping Skills
Use of Basic Computer Skills
Dependable, Initiative, Good Judgment, and Resourceful
Ability to Establish and Maintain Satisfactory Relationships with Students, Staff, and other Adults
