Overview
A caregiver for individuals with special needs supports people with developmental, intellectual, physical, or behavioral disabilities, such as autism, Down syndrome, or other conditions. The goal is to help residents build independence, stay safe, and live meaningful daily lives in a structured and supportive environment. This role goes beyond basic care—you’re helping with life skills, behavior, and personal growth, not just daily tasks. German Assisted Services is a family-oriented business, and we are looking for someone who is good with people and willing to work Saturday 9 am to Monday 9 am and/or Monday 8 pm to Friday 9 am.- TIME ZONES - the time zones for this job are (Saturday 9am- Monday 9am)-Day shifts are preferred-( important to know)-Live-IN (4-5 DAY SHIFTS) -(important to know)- has to be 18 plus and must be able to drive without a parent or legal guardian - (important to know)- Background check is required!
Responsibilities
- on-the-job training
- Assist with daily routines such as feeding, diapering, bathing, and nap times for young children.
- Implement behavior management strategies to encourage positive conduct and emotional regulation.
- Collaborate with families and team members to create personalized care plans tailored to each child's needs.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and nurturing environment that complies with health and safety standards.
- Assist with: Activities, Exercise, Community outings.
- Record: Behaviors, Progress on goals, and Incidents or concerns
- Basic life skills (cleaning, cooking, routines) for them
- Help residents become more independent over time!
- Administer medication if trained and needed.
- must be able to drive the clients around ( 18 plus)
Experience
- 1 year of medical experience
