CDL Class A Driver 

Position Overview

We are seeking a safety‑focused Class A CDL Driver to transport steel products and accessory items from Gerdau suppliers. This role involves operating tractor/trailer equipment, making timely deliveries and pick‑ups, and maintaining accurate driving and vehicle records.

Responsibilities

Operate factory‑equipped diesel straight trucks and tractors with:
Roll‑off trailersDump trailersVan trailers
Pick up and deliver steel products and related materialsSafely load, unload, secure, and transport materials in compliance with DOT regulationsFollow standard operating procedures and prescribed methodsComplete deliveries and pick‑ups using verbal, written, and electronic instructionsMaintain accurate records, including:
Driver’s Daily LogTrip ReportsVehicle Inspection ReportsWeekly Expense Reports
Assist with loading/unloading as needed; unload independently when requiredSecure loads using chains or cinches and attach overhang markersMaintain professional, courteous relationships with customers, suppliers, and receiversContact suppliers regarding roll‑off bin placement or location as necessaryClean and maintain the vehicle regularly

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED preferredValid Class A CDL required
Tanker and HazMat endorsements are a plus
Minimum 9 months of experience with large mobile equipment or hauling vehiclesKnowledge of traffic regulations and load restrictionsAbility to read, write, perform basic math, and follow written or verbal instructionsSmartphone/web experience for GPS navigationBasic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and internet‑based applicationsSAP experience is a plusCustomer service experience preferredFlexibility to work in various weather conditions

Physical & Working Conditions

Light physical activity, including frequent securing of loads and assisting with unloadingContinuous mental and visual attention while driving and operating equipmentPrimarily work in enclosed truck cabs with occasional outdoor exposureExposure to noise, vibration, and fumes at acceptable levels
