A Day in the Shop- Set up and operate manual machine tools to produce accurate parts.
- Machine new and used metal components to precise dimensions and tolerances.
- Perform layout work directly from blueprints, sketches, and templates.
- Calculate dimensions, tapers, feeds, speeds, and overall machining requirements before cutting.
- Make and repair as required to support production and maintenance needs.
- Dismantle, assemble, align, and repair plant equipment with care and accuracy.
- Use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, gauges, levels, and protractors to verify quality.
- Operate cranes and mobile equipment safely when lifting or moving workpieces.
- Complete all required reports and documentation to close out each job.
- Strong manual machining and lathe operation experience.
- Blueprint reading and interpretation for accurate layouts.
- Precision measurement and inspection capability.
- Machine setup and troubleshooting expertise.
- Plant maintenance and equipment repair background.
- Fabrication and fitting work skills.
