We are hiring a competent, self-motivated, reliable, and confident Manufacturing Packager to join our growing team at Gerbs Allergen Friendly Foods in Johnston, RI 02919.

Hours: 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with all major federal and state holidays observed.

We are looking for a dependable individual to operate one of our mechanized filling machines, effectively fulfilling work order requirements. As a Manufacturing Packager, you will play a critical role in ensuring our products meet internal and industry standards for quality and safety.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for measuring, sorting, and packaging dried fruits and similar products by hand to meet production specifications. Ensure proper handling and packaging techniques to preserve quality and freshness.
• Operate semi-automated filling machines for various product sizes.
• Seal packed goods using a continuous band sealer, with training provided on its operation and maintenance.
• Inspect finished products for defects, such as improper sealing, and address issues promptly.
• Prepare finished goods for shipment, including boxing and palletizing, or for in-house distribution.
• Record inventory pulls, log incidents of product loss, and maintain detailed production records.
• Clean and organize the workstation daily, including disposal of trash and recycling.
• Safely use a pallet jack and forklift (if certified).

Skills and Qualifications:

• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while contributing to a larger team.
• Familiarity with pallet jacks and forklifts is a plus.
• Basic understanding of production procedures and adherence to health and safety regulations.
• Competence in basic mathematics and the ability to follow detailed instructions.
• Reliability and punctuality are essential.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
• Physical stamina and strength to lift 50 lbs. consistently (boxes/bags weigh between 40-60 lbs.).
• High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certifications are a plus.
