Preconstruction Intern

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide clients with accurate estimates and value engineering
• Assists Estimating team with bid process.
• Assists Project Team with self-perform estimates.
• Assume overall responsibility for the preconstruction stage of each assigned project.
• Identify tasks to be accomplished to satisfy contractual requirements.
• Preparing estimates, schedules, constructability reviews, value engineering efforts, cost report plan and purchase planning efforts and documents meet detail, schedule and quality requirements.
• Manage estimating process through initial advertising/prequalification and solicitation of trade partners, bid evaluation process and award.
• Effectively schedule complete Preconstruction effort including all estimate milestones, durations and identifying long lead items and other needs.
• Interfaces with Owner, Architect/Engineers and trade partners to resolve technical matters during design or pre bid, and provides engineering and cost data regarding project feasibility.
• Prepare estimates for stages of design from Schematic through Final Construction Documents (CM/GC and Hard Bid).
• Develop and write bid packages and trade partner scopes of work.
• Coordinates with Project Manager in award of subcontracts and writes subcontracts
• Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION

Actively pursuing an undergraduate degree in Construction Management, Engineering or related field

EXPERIENCE

3 months related industry preferred but not required

SKILLS

• Proficiency in Microsoft suite
• Previous use of estimating software, Destini or Planswift a plus
• Ability to read drawings and specifications a plus
• Basic understanding of commercial construction industry practices and standards

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS

• Successful completion of post-offer background & drug screens

• All positions at GH Phipps are considered safety sensitive. Position may be required to visit a construction site at any time.
