Traveling Field Service TechnicianPosition Summary
The Traveling Field Service Technician is responsible for installing, servicing, troubleshooting, repairing, training, and performing preventive maintenance on glass fabrication equipment throughout North America. This position requires strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to represent DeGorter Inc. and our manufacturing partners in a professional manner.

- Other DeGorter-supported equipment lines
This role requires extensive travel while maintaining a high standard of workmanship, communication, and professionalism.
Primary ResponsibilitiesEquipment Installation
- Install new machinery according to manufacturer specifications.
- Perform machine startup and commissioning.
- Verify machine accuracy and performance.
- Complete installation documentation.
- Train customer operators and maintenance personnel.
Field Service
- Diagnose electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and software issues.
- Perform repairs efficiently while minimizing customer downtime.
- Communicate repair recommendations clearly.
- Document all work performed.
Preventive Maintenance
- Perform scheduled PM inspections.
- Inspect bearings, belts, guides, lubrication systems, motors, electrical panels, and safety devices.
- Recommend repairs before failures occur.
- Submit detailed service reports with photographs when required.
Customer Training
- Train operators on:
- Safe machine operation
- Daily maintenance
- Proper tooling
- Machine adjustments
- Troubleshooting basics
Technical Documentation
- Complete service reports accurately.
- Record machine serial numbers.
- Record labor hours.
- Document parts required.
- Submit reports promptly following each service visit.
Customer Service
- Build long-term customer relationships.

- Communicate clearly with customers and coworkers.
- Handle difficult situations calmly and professionally.

Travel Requirements
- Extensive travel throughout North America.
- Overnight travel is expected.
- Valid driver's license and passport required.
- Ability to fly and drive for extended periods.
- Ability to work overtime when required.
