Geologist

Geotemps, Inc. is recruiting for a Mine Site Geologist. This position is located outside of Fairbanks, AK on a surface gold mining operation for the upcoming 2024 mining season. The Mine Site Geologist will be processing core samples, collecting core samples from the drill, and keeping accurate records. Please note: Interested parties should be aware that this is not a camp position and employees will be responsible for housing, meals, and transportation to and from site. Per diem, and expenses may be covered, pending a conversation with the client.Duties will include:Maintaining accurate drill logs and field logging of samplesSupervising collection of samplesSupervising drill rig setupOperation of field equipmentCore processingDrill core logging-keeping accurate, detailed records of drill coreSampling- determining appropriate intervals for sampling and sampling accuratelyData Entry- using site-determined software, entering drill data accuratelySample QA/QC-Following quality assurance/control methods in logging and samplingAdhering to site safety practicesOther duties, such as picking up core from drill site and mapping, will occasionally be assignedApplicants must:Possess a valid driver’s licenseCompletion of at least two years on a mining or geologic degree at an accredited university and have successfully completed courses in mineralogy, economic geology, and structural geologyBe able to lift and carry 50 pounds regularly and 75 pounds occasionallyBe capable of passing a pre-employment physical, drug screen and background checkBe willing to work in adverse weather conditions and able to maneuver frequently on uneven terrainBe able to communicate effectively both in person and on via radioProven ability to work effectively as part of a team and with a commitment to working safelyThe ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, walk on uneven terrain, sit and stand for extended periods of time, and work in inclement weather conditionsThe ability to pass a post-offer criminal background check, physical and drug screen and obtain appropriate MSHA certificationDemonstrated proficiency in multiple computer applications including MS office suiteGood data management skillsGood knowledge of mine safety practices Pay rate: $28 - $38 DOE
