The Tool and Die Machinist is responsible for maintaining production tooling and creating, with engineering input, new tools, fixtures and jigs.
Shift Available
Monday - Thursday: 5:00am-5:30pm
Duties And Responsibilities
- Work from sample pieces, rough sketches, drawings or verbal instructions to plan, make, fit and assemble a variety of complex precision instruments, equipment, jigs, fixtures, dies
- Set up and operate all toolroom machine tools, determining holding methods and devices, select and grind tools, select and set fees, speeds, depth of cut
- Assemble instruments, equipment, jigs, fixtures, making intricate lineups using a variety of precision measuring tools
- Exercise care for the protection of all facilities and equipment and the safety of others
- Ability to use traditional tool making equipment such as knee-mills and surface grinders to manufacture and repair fixtures and gauges
- Builds or assembles prototype materials, components, subassemblies and assemblies
- This position involves work with the engineering departments and developing concepts, prototypes and finished drawings for tooling builds, upgrades and development trials
- The position is located in the maintenance shop, standing for up to 12 hours a day
- Work with or around power tools, loud equipment, and chemicals
- Lift up to 50 pounds regularly
