Job Description

Essential Functions
- Provide assistance in procuring cost-effective and timely solutions for transportation of inbound/ outbound freight from LTL and TL carriers.
- Supervise daily warehouse operations including shipping functions, receiving functions, and inventory management.
- Supervise shipping & receiving processes to ensure materials are accurately verified, transacted, and documented while maintaining quality and company standards. File freight claims with freight carriers, if needed.
- Monitor shipping reports and KPI’s
- Ensure safety and security of goods, materials, and facility by enforcing safety policies and procedures.
- Confer and correspond with representatives to correct issues with receipts and shipments as needed.
- Recommend optimal transportation modes, routing and equipment
- Assist in implementing operating procedures and promote continual improvement within the operation.
- Help to manage processes related to Material Handling, including shipping and receiving functions, transportation scheduling and material storage.
- Lead, coach, and evaluate staff performance. Provide feedback, training, and support.
- Train new and existing employees in all required processes and procedures to ensure they can successfully perform daily tasks.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to developing standard operating procedures.
- Safely operate all equipment related to material handling to transport materials and load/unload trucks. (forklift, reach lift, combi-lift)
- Monitor compliance with safety and security policies.
- Unload / load trailers
- Maintain inventory accuracy through effective use of computerized scanning equipment and / or other inventory maintenance reports.
- Assist the shipping & receiving manager with any other matter as he or she may direct.
- 3-5 years min in the logistics industry in some form of Supervisory role.
- Proven Experience in a supervisory role within warehouse in a manufacturing setting
- High School diploma or GED
- Experience working with and maintaining relationships with LTL and TL carriers
- Strong knowledge of shipping, receiving and warehousing practices
- Forklift experience
- Strong Verbal and written communication
- Experience with MS Office is preferred
- Ability to analyze problems and make effective decisions
- Detail oriented and organized to ensure accuracy and quality
- Experience with import/ export rules and regulations and keeping up to date with them. Including but not limited to Incoterms, HS #’s, ECCN, Commercial Invoices etc.
