We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Construction Materials Technician to perform field and laboratory testing of concrete and soils for residential, commercial, industrial, and transportation construction projects in Central Louisiana. This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy working both outdoors and in a laboratory environment while ensuring construction materials meet project specifications and industry standards.
Responsibilities
- Perform field testing and inspection of fresh concrete, including:
- Slump testing
- Air content testing
- Concrete temperature measurements
- Concrete cylinder fabrication and curing
- Conduct soils testing and inspection, including:
- Density testing using nuclear gauge equipment
- Moisture content determination
- Compaction verification
- Collect material samples and maintain accurate testing records.
- Prepare daily field reports and communicate results to project managers and clients.
- Ensure compliance with ASTM, AASHTO, and project-specific testing standards.
- Maintain testing equipment and vehicles.
- Follow company safety procedures and quality control requirements.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Previous construction materials testing experience preferred but not required.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical fieldwork.
Preferred Certifications
Candidates with one or more of the following certifications are strongly encouraged to apply:
- ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade I
- NICET Construction Materials Testing Certification
- Nuclear Gauge Safety Certification
- DOT or state-specific materials testing certifications
