Responsibilities
- Utilize utility locating devices such as ground-penetrating radar and radio detection tools to accurately detect underground utilities including cables, pipes, and other infrastructure.
- Interpret site plans, blueprints, schematics, and construction documents to identify utility layouts and plan safe excavation routes.
- Perform utility marking on construction sites to clearly identify underground utilities for contractors and crews.
- Operate company vehicles safely while traveling between job sites in Niceville, Crestview, Fort Walton Beach, and surrounding areas.
- Conduct field service activities including site inspections, utility detection, and verification to ensure compliance with safety protocols.
- Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and project managers to relay locating results and coordinate site activities.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a service technician or field service worker within the fiber & utilities sector.
- Strong background in blueprint reading and interpreting utility maps.
- Hands-on experience with utility locating devices such as ground-penetrating radar (GPR) and radio-detection (RD) systems.
- Knowledge of underground utilities including cables, pipes, conduits, and other infrastructure components.
- Ability to read schematics and site plans accurately to determine utility locations.
- Familiarity with safety protocols related to underground utility detection and construction site operations.
- Experience working outdoors in varying weather conditions with outdoor work experience preferred.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record for operating company vehicles safely.
- Excellent client communication skills to provide clear updates and coordinate activities effectively.
