What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cable Fab Operator (Night Shift) position at Geospace Technologies?
Function:
To manufacture wire and cable products in assigned area to the specification provided.
Scope:
The position is accountable for the manufacturing of wire and cable products across all product lines during a single shift. Some areas require the position to work in teams. May be responsible for work involving a continuous production process. May operate on a 24/7 schedule.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Maintains, sets up and operates a machine that produces wire and cable products. Ensures all quality standards are met at all times during the process. Ensures periodic preventive maintenance is performed. Maintains housekeeping standards and 5-S practices. Works with Quality Dept. to ensure product is free of defects and MNC’s prior to running and to notify them when product is ready for testing. Follows all safety measures. Supports management to ensure other teammates understand and follow safety measures. Suggests process and safety improvements. Actively participates in team meetings. Assists in other areas and departments as business requires. May work on process improvement team as needed.
Skills/Experience:
Required:
Required Working knowledge of English language.
Must be able to write legibly in English. Ability to read and understand drawings and written instruction in English.
Basic use of hand tools and measuring tools (calipers and Pi tapes).
High school level math skills.
Interpersonal skills to effectively explain any product anomalies and work in a team.
Must be able to cross-train in other areas of the plant.
Must be able to lift and/ or carry 20 lbs on a regular basis throughout the shift.
Must be able to wear all safety gear provided according to the Safety Instructions provided for the machine and work order.
Must be able to work night shift for an extended period of time (up to 6 consecutive days per week.)
Preferred:
Experience operating cabling equipment.
6 months of manufacturing experience.
Education:
Required:
High school diploma, GED or the equivalent.
Preferred:
Experience reading drawings
