What are the responsibilities and job description for the CNC/CAM Programmer position at GEOSPACE TECHNOLOGIES CORPORATION?
As a CNC programmer you will be responsible for interpreting blueprints and inputting solid models into CAM software to create functional G-Code. Must have the ability to program and handle multi-axis lathes (2 Turret & 3 Turret) along with some 3,4,5 Axis machining. Candidate must have a strong understanding of machining principles, able to work with machinists to optimize cutting paths as needed, manual editing of code on the fly, and a commitment to quality. Must be willing to push the limits and use the latest and greatest cutting tools, work-holding, and manufacturing technology to improve shop flow. Duties/Responsibilities:
- Develop and create CNC programs for machines to efficiently produce parts according to specifications using CAM software.
- Use of ESPRIT 2XXX and ESPRIT EDGE software a huge plus!
- Cooperate with building our network library of cutting tools, work-holding, and shared files.
- Help machinists perform first part inspections (FAI), when proving out a program.
- Create and enhance machines Digital Twin for CAM machine simulations.
- Enhance legacy CNC programs for improved efficiency, accuracy, and reduced cycle times, while choosing and loading the correct cutting tools.
- Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations.
- Aid in training staff in machine operation procedures and best practices to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
- Adhere to safety guidelines and maintain a clean work area.
- Responsible for creating/modeling jigs, fixtures or other specialized non-production devices as assigned.
- Help create setup sheets using software.
- Demonstrate ability to independently interpret instructions and execute complete machine setups and various job responsibilities with minimal supervision.
- Create or modify G-Code programs to reduce or improve run times.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production/machine issues.
- 5 years of CNC machining experience.
- 2 years of CNC programming experience.
- Strong Fanuc control skills.
- Proactive work ethic and strong attention to detail.
- Experience in multiple part setups.
- Renishaw tool setter and part probing experience.
- Ability to meet production and quality requirements in a fast-paced environment.
Education/Experience requirements:
High School Diploma or GED.
Certificates or Associates in Machining are a plus but not required.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift 45 pounds without assistance.
