What are the responsibilities and job description for the Flying Probe Technician position at Geospace Technologies and Careers?
The ideal candidate for this position is responsible for operating production test equipment, troubleshooting and repairing defective products, maintaining test equipment, monitoring test performance and yield information, and providing technical support to other test operators. Responsible for testing printed circuit boards and programming a robotic flying probe machine. Prior experience with both testing and programming is necessary.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot, repair, calibration, and test electronic assemblies, instruments and mechanical assemblies at the lower or component level.
- Debug ICT / FT / Functional / RMAs/ Flying Probe test failures.
- Repair power supplies and circuit boards.
- Perform detailed analysis on all test failures.
- Enter and analyze the repair finding into information data collections systems.
- Read and interpret schematics, drawings and Engineering Change Orders.
- Provide continuous feedback to test engineers for test yield improvement.
- Actively reduces the debug WIP.
- Perform maintenance and repair on test fixture.
- May operate test equipment.
- May complete rework on assemblies and/or systems as a result of testing.
- Other duties as assigned.
Must be able to read schematics, diagrams, test data and software output as well as BOMs and assembly drawings to perform quick repairs.- Must have experience programming a flying probe machine.
- Must have experience testing and troubleshooting printed circuit boards.
- Board level Functional Test Program development in at least one of the following: C, C , LabVIEW, LabVIEW CVI and/or Visual Basic is preferred.
- Must have knowledge of Internet software, Microsoft Office, Thermal Chamber Programming. Visio, C / C , LabVIEW and Microsoft Project are a plus.
- Experience with CAD tools to create schematics is a plus.
- Working knowledge of ICT, FT and Flying Probe test platforms, and ability to run production test systems as needed.
- Ability to use standard measurement and test equipment such as digital voltmeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, and power sources.
- Knowledge and application of schematic diagram Knowledge of electric circuit boards, processors, chips, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming.
- Ability to debug hard chronic failures.
- Ability to debug aging PCBA's Basic knowledge of PCBA process and PCB layers.
- Ability to recognize potential and existing problems and escalate to management for resolution.
- Ability to read, write and otherwise communicate effectively in English Excellent attention to detail and accuracy very important.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment with quickly changing priorities to ensure superior customer satisfaction.
- Must have excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Two-year technical degree and two years of hands-on experience or four years of hands-on technical experience without a degree.
