What are the responsibilities and job description for the Geospatial Analyst (Lidar / Utilities Focus) position at GeoSearch?
We are seeking a Geospatial Analyst with 2–3 years of experience specializing in LiDAR data processing and extraction for electrical utility applications. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working with transmission and distribution corridor data, utilizing MicroStation and PLS-CADD to support engineering and asset management workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- Process, classify, and analyze LiDAR point cloud data for electric transmission and distribution projects
- Extract utility features such as conductors, poles, towers, and vegetation encroachment
- Develop geospatial deliverables using MicroStation and PLS-CADD
- Support engineering modeling workflows by preparing data for line design and analysis
- Perform QA/QC on LiDAR-derived datasets and mapping products
- Generate planimetric and 3D mapping deliverables
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and analysts
- Maintain organized project files and adhere to standards
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Geospatial Science, GIS, Surveying, or related field
- 2–3 years of experience in geospatial analysis or LiDAR processing
- Experience working with LiDAR datasets
- Proficiency with MicroStation and PLS-CADD
- Strong attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting electrical utilities (transmission/distribution)
- Familiarity with vegetation management workflows
- Experience with TerraScan, ArcGIS, or similar tools
- Basic scripting knowledge (Python, VBA)
