What are the responsibilities and job description for the Student Health & Wellness Nurse position at Georgian Court University?
The Student Health & Wellness Nurse provides direct clinical care, health education, and operational support to promote student well-being, retention, and compliance with university and state health requirements. This role integrates clinical services with health promotion and outreach, while supporting the administrative functions of Health Services.
This is a 10-month position aligned with the academic calendar, with primary responsibilities occurring during the fall and spring semesters.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care
· Provide primary care for students, including assessment and treatment of illness, injury, and health concerns
· Respond to urgent health situations and provide appropriate triage and referrals
· Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in the electronic health record system
Health Promotion & Outreach
· Plan, coordinate, and implement health education and outreach programs (minimum monthly during academic year)
· Participate in university events and campus-wide wellness initiatives
· Collaborate with Counseling Services, Campus Life, EOF/TRIO, and other campus partners
· Promote preventative care, health maintenance, and student wellness
Compliance & Health Records Management
· Review and process student immunization records in compliance with New Jersey state laws
· Monitor and track immunization compliance and follow-up with students as needed
· Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA, FERPA, and applicable regulations
· Support reporting requirements including annual reports and compliance tracking
Operations & Administrative Support
· Manage inventory of medications and medical supplies
· Support scheduling workflows and front desk operations in collaboration with student workers
· Utilize and optimize the electronic health record system (PyraMED) for efficiency and accuracy
· Assist in streamlining administrative processes and improving workflow efficiency
Coverage & Team Support
· Serve as a secondary clinical provider to ensure continuity of care
· Collaborate with the Staff Nurse to support daily operations
· Participate in team meetings and contribute to continuous improvement of services
· Responsibilities may shift seasonally based on student needs, with increased focus on outreach and compliance during peak periods.
Qualifications
· Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
· Current New Jersey RN license required
· BLS for Healthcare Providers certification required
· Experience in clinical settings such as primary care, emergency care, public health, or college health preferred
· Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
· Ability to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities
· Commitment to student-centered care and wellness promotion

Salary : $65,000 - $75,000
