Job Description:

JOB SUMMARY:

Adjunct faculty are responsible for presenting instruction in the specified subject area. The payment method is based on training contact hours, with a rate of $40.00 per training hour.

INSTRUCTION

Provides instruction in the theory and practical applications of Welding and Joining Technology in accordance with industry standards.

Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in Welding and Joining Technology.

Instructs courses in a classroom and lab environment that closely simulates the environment of the industry.

Instructs face-to-face, blended, on-campus, and mobile lab as needed

Prepare customized training plan according to the needs of corporate or community customers.

Assesses student progress based on established course grading requirements; grades all coursework in a timely manner in accordance to industry standards.

Utilizes current technology in the classroom and lab.

Meets with students, staff members, and other educators to discuss student instructional programs and other issues.

Maintains program certification/accreditation requirements as appropriate for the teaching discipline.

May be required to attend professional development training as required for specific classroom/lab course delivery.

Selected candidates must be able to work morning, afternoons or evening hours.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Diploma in Welding and Joining Technology or related diploma/degree from an accredited institution.

Three (3) years out of the past seven (7) years of experience in welding and joining.

Must be able to pass the AWS welding test; some locations will require an additional pipe welding test.

Valid driver's license.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Diploma in Welding and Joining Technology with 5 or more years welding experience

AWS or related welding and joining certifications.

Directly related teaching experience at the post-secondary level.

PAY & BENEFITS

$40.00 per contact hour.

All adjunct positions are part-time, temporary positions offered on the needs of the college.

Adjunct positions do not include benefits or promises of future full-time employment.

All courses are face-to-face unless otherwise indicated.

Mobile Welding Lab, Campus locations for this pool are for Carroll Campus, Coweta (CEC) Campus, Douglas (CCI) Campus, Franklin Site, Greenville Site, LaGrange Campus, and Murphy Campus.

Dual enrollment courses offered at the Coweta (CEC) Campus and Douglas (CCI) Campus are Monday through Friday.

Upon employment offer, a background check is required.

SAFETY AND TECHNOLOGY

Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the Welding and Joining Technology program.

Supports faculty to ensure all equipment is in working order.

Ensure students are instructed in and follow all safety rules for operating equipment and using tools.

Ensure classrooms and work areas are properly cleaned and maintained at all times.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This job operates in a professional classroom and lab environment. This role routinely uses standard office, classroom, and lab equipment and technology.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, talk, or hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move classroom/lab equipment and supplies up to 25 pounds.
