Job Summary
We are looking to hire a research scientist in the Expressive Machinery Lab, under Dr. Brian Magerko, to support one or more active research projects related to AI and creativity.
- Mentoring junior researchers
- Assisting in running research meetings
- Designing and conducting research studies with human participants
- Writing research papers and grant submissions
Participants will have the opportunity to collaborate on one or more NSF-funded projects related to creativity and computing, including:
Engaging Blind and Visually Impaired Youth in Computer Science through Music Programming: This collaborative project with Northwestern University, the University of North Texas, and the California School for the Blind is examining how the CS education environment, EarSketch, can be redesigned to use computational music as a means for engaging blind and visually impaired high school students.
Participatory Sensemaking with Embodied Co-Creative Agents: This collaboration with the Kennesaw State University School of Dance looks at the role of sensemaking in improvised movement between human bodies as a way to inform machine learning models of movement for improvisation and co-creativity.
Required Qualifications
- A Master's degree in Digital Media, and three (3) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree, or
- A Master's degree in Digital Media, and five (5) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor's degree, or
- A Doctoral degree.
Preferred Qualifications
A PhD is preferred.
Proposed Salary
This position will pay between $65,000-$95,000 annually, to commensurate with experience.
