Job Description
The Cybersecurity, Information Protection, and Hardware Evaluation Research Laboratory(CIPHER) San Diego field office is looking for an Intern who defines, conceptualizes, describes, and manages an engineering solution specific to the enterprise system. Responsible for understanding the architecture, design, and development of software built for sponsors, specifically focusing on fully automated deployments. Additional responsibilities include understanding how integration with third-party software vendors will impact the system and providing guidance on impact to the enterprise during the Spring 2026 term.
This position will interact with government sponsors and government technical experts to translate business requirements into technical requirements and provide guidance to technical teams for execution of requirements.
Required Minimum Qualifications
Intern
10–20 hours per week
U.S. Citizenship Requirements
Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.
Clearance Type Required
Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain an active security clearance.

Required Minimum Qualifications
Intern
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or related technical field of study
- 2.0 or higher cumulative GPA
- Part-Time Intern– Must be registered for 6 credit hours
- Experience in 1 or more programming languages
- Task / team leadership experience
- Strong math skills and ability to learn complex engineering concepts
- Familiarity with Linux and open source tools
- Configuration management tools
- Ability to clearly communicate technical ideas
- Familiarization with Windows systems
