Job Description

The ATAS (Aerospace, Transportation and Advanced Systems)-IT Services Branch is looking for Student Assistants for Fall 2026. These students will be members of our IT Operations support team utilizing our Service Desk to serve our customers in ATAS. Students working for us will resolve support requests, which consists of maintaining and securing Windows, Linux, and MacOS systems for advanced engineers and developers. Students will also gain experience with networking, application/machine virtualization, and Active Directory Management.

The ATAS (Aerospace, Transportation and Advanced Systems) specializes in system simulations, and test and evaluations related to threat radars, missiles, air and ground vehicles, unmanned and autonomous systems, transportation systems, power and energy systems, acoustics, flow control, and food processing technologies.

Required Minimum Qualifications

Student Assistant/Research Assistant

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
  • Must be registered for at least 6 credit hours with your university
  • 2.5 or higher cumulative GPA

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong interests in learning Information Technology Operations
  • Basic level knowledge of computer hardware and various operating systems
  • Desire to grow as a future IT professional
  • Ability to collaborate, communicate effectively, and work as a team with others
  • Task/team leadership experience
  • Familiarity with Linux and open source tools
  • Configuration management tools
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical ideas

Hours per Week

10–20 hours per week

U.S. Citizenship Requirements

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.

Clearance Type Required

Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain an active security clearance.
