Job Description

The Information and Cybersecurity Department (ICD) is seeking an Intern for the Fall 2026 semester. As part of the Information and Cybersecurity Department (ICD), the ICD student intern will play a supporting role in unclassified network monitoring, alert triage, suspicious email identification, and vulnerability management with the Information Security Operations Center (ISOC). They will also support information security by maintaining documentation, assisting with audits/assessments, and ensuring security policies are communicated across the organization with the Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) team. The ideal candidate for this role is responsive to mentoring and enthusiastic in the pursuit of cybersecurity knowledge and skills. They also can respond to unfamiliar and time-sensitive situations appropriately.

Required Minimum Qualifications

Intern

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Engineering or a related field
  • 2.0 or higher GPA
  • Must be registered for Full-time Internship Credit
  • Basic understanding of Cybersecurity concepts, standards, guidelines, and principles
  • Interest in Information Technology or Cybersecurity
  • Can communicate effectively and work independently

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with networking, software development and/or information technology systems
  • Experience with cybersecurity tools such as: Splunk, CrowdStrike, Tenable.io, Axonious
  • Familiarity with industry-recognized security and analysis frameworks (MITRE ATT&CK, Cyber Kill Chain, NIST, etc.)
  • Familiarity with industry-recognized risk assessment and compliance frameworks (NIST CSF, ISO/IEC 27001, CMMC, FedRAMP)
  • Technical writing experience
  • Strong attention to detail

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.

Clearance Type Required

Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain an active security clearance.
