Mission
Job Summary
Oversee and coordinate maintenance services delivery within the Georgia Tech Department of Housing Residence Halls. Hire, train, and supervise workers to determine and execute maintenance and repair procedures. Responsible for setting goals, assessing employee performance, providing feedback, and making pay recommendations.
- This position will interact regularly with Housing management, maintenance staff, and housing residents.
- This position typically will advise and counsel: Maintenance staff personnel.
- This position will supervise: Assigned maintenance staff.
Responsibilities
Job Duty 1 -
Coordinate the day-to-day activities of maintenance workers to ensure that equipment, machinery, or instruments function reliably and safely and that facilities, plants, and buildings are in good working order.
Job Duty 2 -
Process work orders; prepare and maintain work-related reports and records.
Job Duty 3 -
Prioritize and assign tasks so that the team's resources are used effectively, and schedules and targets are met.
Job Duty 4 -
Coach and mentor maintenance workers, assist them in diagnosing more complex problems, and train newer staff on operating standards and procedures.
Job Duty 5 -
Inspect completed work to check that repairs have been completed correctly and that machinery and equipment conform to specifications and safety standards.
Job Duty 6 -
Oversee daily maintenance activity; maintain preventive maintenance program.
Job Duty 7 -
Monitor proper use of equipment and supplies, conduct periodic inventories, and participate in the selection and purchasing of equipment and supplies.
Job Duty 8 -
Provide input to budget development, funding priorities, and purchasing decisions.
Job Duty 9 -
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Technical Diploma, Associate's Degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Required Experience
Five to seven years of job-related experience
Three to four years of supervisory experience
Proposed Salary
Pay Range: $27.32-$37.15/hr.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
SKILLS
This job requires working knowledge of building maintenance processes and procedures, as well as skills in work planning, supervision, administrative processing, customer service, and familiarity with work order management software. Requires job knowledge and experience in at least one skilled trade area. Use of basic office-related computer applications is required.
