Summary

The Senior Retail Learning Team Lead is responsible for leading and coordinating development initiatives focused on technical, operational, and soft skills, including product implementation, policy and procedures, compliance requirements, and related sales and service strategies. This role requires remote work capabilities but includes a strong expectation for in-person presence at the Main Office and branch locations to support learning initiatives and oversee development programs. The Senior Retail Learning Team Lead will also create content for project rollouts and ensure alignment with organizational goals.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Plans and oversees development programs for new and existing employees across all business lines, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and sales strategies.
  • Provides coaching and development through one-on-one sessions and observation in branch and call center environments.
  • Travels to branch locations and the Main Office to deliver coaching, support, and ensure successful application of development initiatives.
  • Serves as an on-site resource during product rollouts, system changes, and compliance updates to ensure readiness and adoption.
  • Creates content for project rollouts and ensures materials are accurate, engaging, and aligned with enterprise objectives.
  • Meets regularly with the Sales Director to review performance reports, identify trends, and determine development priorities.
  • Collaborates with the Sales Director to create schedules and assignments for Retail Learning Specialists.
  • Conducts regular meetings with Retail Learning Specialists to monitor progress and communicate Enterprise Strategy.
  • Understands the development needs of Area Service Managers (ASM), Community Service Managers (CSM), Universal Bankers, Member Services Representatives, and Virtual Universal Bankers to assist in creating tailored development plans.
  • Ensures development programs integrate both sales and content objectives to achieve Credit Union goals.
  • Represents Retail Learning as a key partner in strategic initiative planning.
  • Coordinates and conducts needs analyses; evaluates data to define present and future development needs.
  • Cross-trained and able to serves as back-up facilitator for all training classes delivered by Retail Learning Specialists.
  • Assists in the design, development, and maintenance of learning solutions for various mediums (classroom, web-based, blended learning), including production of course materials and reference guides.
  • Maintains knowledge of regulatory and corporate policies, guidelines, and procedures, as well as credit union products and services.
  • Monitors development programs for effectiveness and adjusts materials as needed to address changes in policy and business conditions.
  • Conducts follow-up and evaluates job performance to ensure transfer of knowledge through On-the-Job Development programs and branch visits.
  • Collaborates with sales leaders, department managers, and front-line employees to identify performance improvement needs.
  • Maintains relationships with vendors to provide specialized development resources as needed.
  • Complies with policies and procedures and understands changes in regulatory requirements, with particular attention to the Bank Secrecy Act, Patriot Act, and robbery procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Educational And Work Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Learning & Development or related field
  • 5 years of managerial experience involving banking retail and call center experience
  • 5 years experience leading development initiatives, including virtual instruction-led programs
  • ATD (Association for Talent Development) active membership preferred
  • CPTD (Certified Professional in Talent Development) certification preferred
  • Cornerstone or other LMS administration experience preferred

Additional/Important Skillsets

  • Strong ability to lead and manage development initiatives, presenting information clearly and confidently.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully design and deliver development programs utilizing instructional design and learning technologies.
  • Experience in a variety of roles within a financial institution, with a background in lending and/or loan operations.
  • Proven sales coaching skills; experience in delivering inside sales development, coaching, and mentoring in a lending environment.
  • Strong work ethic; organized, self-sufficient, motivated and able to work independently and as part of a team; ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook).
  • Ability to work remotely while maintaining flexibility for frequent in-person visits to the Main Office and branches to support development delivery, coaching, and performance improvement initiatives.

Physical Requirements

To perform this job successfully, the employee must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. All employees must be able to communicate face to face or through technology with or without reasonable accommodation. Employee will be in an office environment (well-lighted, heated, and air-conditioned) typically stationed at a desk or table. Employee will be asked to sit and stand for various increments of time, and to lift/push up 10 lbs. Clerical office duties on various forms of technology are required. All positions that have lending responsibilities must comply with all requirements under the SAFE ACT, as well as the Credit Union’s policies and procedures related to the SAFE ACT. This includes an obligation on the employee’s part to ensure that NMLA registration pertaining to the SAFE ACT is kept current. The employee must notify the Credit Union within 30 days of any changes that need to be reflected on the NMLS registry.
