Georgia Right of Way – Utility Line Clearance Contractor is seeking to fill a full-time local Foreman position working near the Wrens, Ga area.

Summary: Supervises and works alongside right of way clearing crew members. Includes operating bucket truck, dump truck, chipper as well as various saws.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Supervisory Duties:

Set an example and see that all employees under direct supervision understand and follow all company safety rules.

Correct any employee observed in violation of any company safety rules or policies.

Assure all tools, equipment and safety gear assigned to the crew are kept in good working condition.

Assure that all employees under direct supervision have the necessary information and work skills to do the work assigned to them in a safe manner.

Assure that any vehicle or equipment assigned to the crew is operated by a qualified employee.

Assure that all tools and equipment are locked and secured inside vehicle side-bins or other approved location prior to the crew departing their parking location at the end of each workday.

Assure that all employees are proficient in the proper use and care of tools prior to using them.

Assure that traffic signs and safety cones are properly placed when working on or near a road.

Assure that all vehicles and personnel maintain minimum approach distances when around energized equipment.

Production Duties:

Be competent and safe with chain saws.

Be competent and safe while operating the bucket and hydraulic operated saws.

Assume primary responsibility for rigging and roping.

Be trained and aware of all safety procedures.

Have a basic knowledge of pruning principles.

Inspect his rope for cuts or abrasions before starting work. If any cuts or serious abrasions are found, the rope should be discarded, or the defective section should be cut off.

Carry a climbing rope when ascending a tree.

Qualifications:

Should hold a valid CDL driver’s license. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Experience: Must have proven utility right of way clearing experience with skills which have progressed to be proficient in all duties of each position for which this position supervises.

Language Ability: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; outdoor weather conditions; vibration. The employee is occasionally but rarely exposed to the risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
