Role Description The Resident Assistant is a full-time, on-site position located in Augusta, GA, supporting clients in a structured treatment setting. Day-to-day responsibilities include monitoring client safety, conducting wellness and security checks, and documenting observations in accordance with program policies. The role involves assisting clients with discharge planning, supporting group and individual therapeutic schedules, and reinforcing treatment plans. The Resident Assistant will help with transportation as needed, facilitate positive community interactions, and respond calmly and promptly to emergencies or behavioral concerns. This position works closely with clinical and medical staff to maintain a supportive, professional environment that promotes recovery and respect for all residents.
Qualifications
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and de-escalation skills to support residents with empathy and professionalism.
- Ability to maintain accurate documentation, follow written protocols, and use basic computer systems or electronic health records.
- Skills in observing behavior, identifying safety concerns, and responding appropriately in crisis or emergency situations.
- Capacity to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary treatment teams and follow clinical guidance and boundaries.
- Reliability in following schedules, maintaining confidentiality, and upholding a trauma-informed, nonjudgmental approach.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or training in behavioral health, social services, or related fields is preferred.
- Previous experience in residential treatment, mental health, substance use services, or similar direct-care settings is beneficial.
- Ability to pass background checks and meet any applicable state or facility requirements for working in a treatment environment.
