The Electric Vehicle Technology instructor position in the Automotive Technology in the Division of Industrial Technologies and Professional Services and will report to the Division Chair The instructor will prepare and deliver lectures and/or lab course material; prepare lesson plans for classroom instruction; evaluates students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives; will prepare and maintain all required documentation and administrative reports; will ensure that safety and security requirements are met in the training area; will display a high level of effort and commitment to performing work; operate effectively within the organizational structure; demonstrate trustworthiness and responsible behavior; assist with recruitment retention and job placement efforts. Will perform other job assignments and duties assigned by the Division Chair.

Essential Functions
- Prepares lesson plans for classroom and related laboratory instruction for specified courses.
- Organize and conduct classes using a variety of learning experiences and activities.
- Demonstrate a positive attitude toward student learning and course progress.
- Demonstrate current and comprehensive knowledge of the subject areas and courses to be taught
- Accurately and timely, submit required reports to the students and college.
- Instruct classes in Diesel and Heavy Equipment Technology utilizing techniques and knowledge of discipline-facilitating student learning.
- Provide appropriate means to assess student progress and provide timely feedback on lectures and labs.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve educational objectives.
- Strong oral communication skills, professional attitude, and desire to help students succeed in their career goals.
- Strive to enhance instructional and learning performance.
- Ability to work well with GPTC students, people of all ages from academically, culturally, and socioeconomically diverse backgrounds.
- Ensure safety and security requirements are met in the training area.
- May be required to teach high school students.
- Provide administrative oversight for the Diesel and Heavy Equipment Technology credit programs, (ie. ASE-NATEF)
- Attend EV/Automotive consortium groups as required; may require travel.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate degree in an Automotive/Diesel Heavy Equipment field from a regionally accredited college/university OR Diploma or TCC plus 3 – 5 years of related job experience.
- ASE certification as a Master Technician (Medium Heavy Truck [T2-T7] or individual ASE certifications in T3- Drive Train, T7- Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning and T8- Preventative Maintenance Inspection.)
Three or more years within the last ten full-time, paid in-field work experience in automotive/diesel, automotive/diesel education/training, or a closely related field to diesel.
NOTE: APPLICANTS MUST MEET THE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
A bachelor's or master's Degree from a regionally accredited college or university in Diesel, or a related field is desirable.
Five or more years, within the last ten full-time, paid in-field work experience in automotive/diesel, automotive/diesel education/training, or a closely related field to diesel. Teaching/advising/mentoring college-level students with broad, diverse backgrounds are also desired.
A comprehensive knowledge of current diesel technology in both shops and fields, experience with diesel diagnostics, maintenance and repair.
Knowledge of Blackboard (Learning Management System) is desirable.
Salary and Benefits
The salary range for this position is $65,000 to $70,000 and is determined based on education, experience, and other qualifications. This is a full-time position with paid state holidays, accrued annual and sick leave and the State of Georgia Health and Flexible Benefits Program.
