Job Summary:

Georgia Northwestern Technical College (GNTC) is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Maintenance Supervisor for the Walker County Campus located in Rock Spring, Georgia and the Catoosa County Campus located in Ringgold, Georgia and associated campuses. This position is responsible for supervising and participating in the maintenance and repair of college building and grounds; supervising custodial cleaning of buildings; maintains inventory of custodial supplies and equipment; performs weekly inspections of custodial activity. The successful candidate must be capable of lifting, pushing, or pulling 50 lbs (pounds) minimum and work in an emergency situation during evenings or weekends.

Duties/Responsibilities:

· Trains, assigns, directs, supervises and evaluates the work of employees engaged in performing skilled and semi-skilled buildings and grounds maintenance and repair duties;

· Supervises and participates in the repair and maintenance of college buildings, college equipment and vehicles;

· Plans and directs renovation projects as assigned;

· Works with Facilities Director to establish and coordinate a key control program;

· Uses, distributes and maintains materials, tools and equipment;

· Supervises and participates in grounds maintenance activities, including installing and maintaining landscaping and parking lots;

· Responds to emergency requests for repairs;

· Maintains records and logs of items such as time and materials expended on each work order and brief description of work performed;

· Maintains fire alarms, extinguishers, sprinkler and security systems;

· Supervises and participates in application of insecticides by use of sprayer as directed and by adhering to necessary safety precautions; and

· Other duties as assigned

Competencies:

· Knowledge of the tools, equipment, materials and practices of building and grounds maintenance

· Knowledge of custodial tools, supplies and techniques

· Knowledge of safety policies and procedures

· Knowledge of plumbing, electrical and HVAC system maintenance and repair

· Skill in the operation of computers and job-related software programs

· Decision making and problem-solving skills

· Skill in the supervision of personnel

· Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public

· Oral and written communication skills

Required qualifications: High School diploma or GED. Three (3) years of experience in maintenance. Skilled in the operation of computers and job-related software programs, decision making skills, problem-solving skills, skilled in interpersonal relations and dealing with the public. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to lift, push, and carry heavy items (50lbs. min.). Must have a valid driver’s license.

Preferred qualifications: Five (5) years of supervisory experience in field. Extensive knowledge of welding, electricity, plumbing, custodial and maintenance equipment, etc. Knowledge of safety policies and procedures.

Physical Demands: The successful candidate must be capable of lifting, pushing, or pulling 50 lbs (pounds) minimum. Full range of hand and finger motion may be utilized for data entry purposes.

If the job involves driving, physical requirements include the ability to operate a vehicle and sit for extended periods.

Salary: $54,000 – $57,000 based upon skills and experience.

If this is a part-time position, no benefits are available. If this is a full-time position, benefits include: 13 paid State holidays, annual and sick leave, paid parental leave, educational support leave, options in the State of Georgia health and flexible benefits package, 401K & 457 options, a choice of two retirement systems dependent upon position: Teachers Retirement System of Georgia or the Employee’s Retirement System of Georgia.
