Job Title:  Wellness Coach  Job Grade: 4

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt                                  

Reports to: Wellness Director, Executive Director           Revision Date: 03/20/2017 _________________________________________________________________________          

Position Summary:

Works directly with member services staff and other Y staff to engage and retain members, specifically health seekers.

Essential Functions:

1. Improves the health and well-being of the community the YMCA serves.
2. Works to ensure member safety and enjoyment.
3. Engages members using Activtrax technology. Encourages member interaction.
4. Providing hands-on wellness services including orientations, fitness assessments, personal training, post-rehabilitation and adaptive wellness.
5. Develops small-group interaction through planned and spontaneous programming.
6. Engages members through member programs such as fitness challenges. 
7. Ensures the cleanliness of facilities and equipment.
8. Actively participates in Annual Campaigns.

Qualifications:

1. Experience designing and implementing wellness programs for individuals or groups required.
2. Personal Training certification preferred from approved YMCA list; required within 90 days of employment.
3.  Required certifications: CPR, First Aid, AED
4. Nationally recognized accredited personal training certification from approved YMCA list upon hire. 
5. YMCA Healthy Lifestyle Principals certification within 60 days of hire (available through Leadership University).
6. Wellness 101 within 60 days of hire.
7. Daxko training within 60 days.

Physical Demands:

1. Acceptable eyesight (with or without correction).
2. Acceptable hearing (with or without correction).
3. Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
4. Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
