The Georgia Military College (GMC) Preparatory School is announcing an opening for a Head Football Coach and Weight Room Instructor for SY23-24. GMC is seeking a motivated Head Varsity Football Coach and Weight Room Instructor who has a passion for working with high school students. The ideal candidate should have excellent instructional delivery skills and ability to communicate to various stakeholders. As the Head Football Coach, the candidate must have the ability to instruct athletes in game techniques and strategies to prepare them for competition and determine the need for individual or team improvement. The coach oversees the daily practice schedule of the student-athlete. The coach reports to the Athletic Director.
Specific essential responsibilities include: maintaining a check of student athlete’s grades, maintaining accurate records of student physical forms, holding organizational meetings for team prospects and encouraging potential athletes to participate in football, assigning duties to assistant coaches, , coordinating the development and promotion of the football program, assessing player’s skills and assigning team positions, organizing and scheduling practice, scheduling games and scrimmages in coordination with the Athletic Director, acting as a team representative and promoting football by communicating with news media, Bulldog Family, parents, and other organizations. The Head Football Coach will also be intricately involved in assisting in fundraising activities for sports.
As the Weight Room Instructor, the candidate would be expected to carry a regular load of full-time instruction in the weight room. It is expected the ideal candidate will exercise safe weight training and encourage students to maximize their ability in the weight room to achieve healthy results.
The GMC Preparatory School is a public-independent state agency that serves grades K-12. The high school enrollment is ~340 students. Character, leadership, and ethics are at the heart of the Prep School’s core curriculum and any candidate looking to take a leadership role, such as the Head Football Coach and Weight Room Instructor, would be expected to maintain high personal, appearance, and moral standards in order to be successful at this institution.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirement -- Candidates must hold a valid teaching certificate in a teaching field and have previous football coaching experience.
