What are the responsibilities and job description for the Athletic Trainer: Prep School position at GEORGIA MILITARY COLLEGE?
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
The Prep Athletic Trainer is responsible for providing comprehensive sports medicine services to student-athletes in grades 6-12, including injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation. This position supports the overall health and safety of athletic programs and works closely with coaches, administration, parents, and healthcare providers.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Administrative Responsibilities
- Assist with the management of the daily operation of the Athletic Training Room.
- Serving as a referral source to the Health Services Department for evaluation of injuries within the Scope of Care of a Certified Athletic Trainer.
- Assist with the maintenance of our Third-Party Reimbursement.
- Help ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies. (HIPPA, EPA, OSHA, NATA, GATA, NJCAA)
- Assisting with the development and implementation of all Sports Medicine Policies and Procedures.
- Implementation of Emergency Action Plans through the various practice/game sites.
- Comprise daily injury reports for assigned teams.
- Manage and maintain inventory supply.
- Performs other duties, coverages, and responsibilities as appointed by the Athletic Director or Principal
- Functions effectively as a member of the sports medicine team
- Supports the Georgia Military College Preparatory School mission
- Proactively supports efforts that ensure delivery of safe patient care and services and promote a safe environment at Georgia Military College Preparatory School.

Clinical Responsibilities
- Provides high-quality sports medicine services to Georgia Military College Preparatory student athletes
- Daily treatment and evaluation of athletic injuries
- Application of rehabilitation regimens for athletic injuries as well as, pre and post-surgical rehabilitation as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer.
- Determining the return-to-play status of athletic injuries.
- Maintain proper records of treatment progressions.
- Assist with the development of In-season, Off-season, and Pre-season strength & conditioning programs.
- Supervision of Athletic Training Students and Graduate Assistants assigned to GMC as a Clinical Rotation
- Demonstrates clinical competence in the provision of effective service delivery appropriate to the patient’s specific needs and diagnosis
- Understands medical diagnosis and treatment interventions
- Follows established rehabilitation protocols based on diagnosis
- Provides education to parent and patients in an ongoing fashion via text, phone, or email
- Completes injury documentation on each patient and submits daily
- Completes documentation daily with appropriate content
- Demonstrates effective use of time for direct and indirect patient care and departmental responsibilities
- Demonstrates commitment to continuous professional growth and improvement
- Delivers competent age-appropriate patient care, integrating infection control and body substance precautions, patient safety, body mechanics, and knowledge of growth and development
- Identifies patient/family need for services from ancillary departments and provides follow-up and referral as necessary
Coverage Responsibilities
- Shift Start Time
- Coverage of all Prep Home games and some regular season/region/state games (Must be willing to travel).
- Coverage of all Prep practices and activities

Qualifications:Position Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or entry level master’s degree in related field from an accredited program
- Certified by NATA’s board of certification
- Maintains current licensure by the state of Georgia or eligible to apply
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Clinical competencies in treatment aspects for sports medicine patients
- Adhere to NATA best practices, and state laws of practice related to athletic training in Georgia
- Willing to work a flexible schedule and perform a variety of work-related tasks as needed
