Role Description
This is a full-time,/ part time on-site role for a Certified Peer Specialist based in Decatur, GA. The Certified Peer Specialist will provide peer support services to individuals living with mental health and substance use challenges, offering guidance based on lived experience to empower others in their recovery journey. Responsibilities include facilitating peer support groups, developing one-on-one recovery plans, conducting outreach efforts, and assisting individuals in accessing resources. This role will require close collaboration with community partners, documentation of services provided, and active advocacy for mental health recovery principles.
Qualifications
- Ability to provide peer support based on personal lived experience with mental health and/or substance use challenges.
- Experience in facilitating peer support groups and providing one-on-one mentoring.
- Strong communication, active listening, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to connect individuals with community resources and support systems.
- Knowledge of recovery principles, self-help strategies, and mental health advocacy.
- Organizational and time management skills for documenting services and meeting deadlines.
- Certified Peer Specialist (CPS) credential in the state of Georgia required.
- High School Diploma or GED required; additional education in mental health or a related field is a plus.
- Comfortable working in an on-site environment in Decatur, GA.
