Student Assistant - Student Spin Producer

Work location: Six Mile Media newsroom, Floyd Campus & Cartersville Campus, with remote and multi-campus work as assigned

Six Mile Media is the umbrella term for our award-winning student newspaper, the Six Mile Post, as well as our student-produced podcast, Student Spin. Content for both platforms are planned, written, edited and designed by students. Several students serve on the editorial board in paid positions.

Manages the Student Spin podcast network, from booking and recording through editing and publication.

There is 1 position open. The schedule is 5 hours per week.

• Maintain a regular podcast release schedule
• Book guests and coordinate recording sessions
• Operate podcast recording equipment and manage studio setup
• Edit audio, including cleanup, mixing, and assembly of finished episodes
• Write episode descriptions and prepare episodes for distribution
• Train and support students who want to host or produce episodes

• Student must be currently enrolled at Georgia Highlands College in at least 6 credit hours
• Basic audio editing ability using Audacity, Adobe Audition, Descript, or comparable software
• Organization and follow-through in scheduling with guests
• Reliable weekly availability for recording sessions

This opportunity is open to students of any major and from any home campus.

• Prior podcast, radio, or audio production experience
• On-microphone hosting experience

The rate of pay is $12 per hour.

Hours may not exceed 19 hours total hours per week across all campus employment

Employment period: August 2026 through May 2027, approximately 30 instructional weeks
