Job Summary
The Student Assistant Barista/Retail position supports daily operations in Charger Central-Floyd by providing excellent customer service, assisting with retail sales, and maintaining a clean, organized, and welcoming environment. This position plays a key role in delivering a positive campus experience through efficient service, product knowledge, and attention to operational standards.
Responsibilities
- Greet and assist customers in a friendly, professional, and courteous manner
- Answer questions and help customers locate products in Charger Central
- Deliver high-quality customer service during both routine and high-volume periods
- Provide quality beverages and food products according to standard recipes or customized by request
- Assist customers with retail purchases and operate the point-of-sale (POS) system
- Follow First In, First Out (FIFO) methods, health, safety, and sanitation guidelines
- Restock merchandise, straighten displays, and maintain a visually appealing sales floor labeling items with dates, placing older items in the front or on top, and using dedicated shelving or lanes for seamless flow.
- Assist with inventory counts and basic stock management
- Follow college and departmental policies and procedures
- Communicate operational issues or customer concerns to supervisor(s)
- Assist with training new student employees when applicable
- Perform other duties as assigned to support operations
Required Qualifications
- Must have knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a high school diploma or equivalent
- Must be currently enrolled in a program of study at Georgia Highlands College and be in good academic standing, 3.0 or higher GPA
- Previous experience in customer service or retail environment
- Previous experience as a barista in a fast-food establishment
- Must have or have the ability to achieve ServSafe certification
Proposed Salary
$12.00 per hour
