We are seeking a Hazmat Technician to support transportation-related incidents, petroleum spills, and environmental remediation projects. This role is critical in responding to fuel releases, vehicle accidents, roadway spills, and industrial environmental hazards. You will work alongside experienced response professionals to contain, clean, and remediate hazardous materials—helping restore roadways, properties, and the environment safely and efficiently.
This position is ideal for individuals with experience in trucking, fuel handling, construction, industrial cleanup, or emergency response who want a hands-on role in a fast-paced, mission-driven field.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to transportation-related incidents including truck accidents, fuel spills, and roadway hazardous material releases
- Contain, recover, and properly dispose of petroleum products such as diesel, gasoline, oil, and contaminated absorbents
- Perform environmental remediation including soil removal, surface cleaning, and spill mitigation
- Assist with emergency response operations alongside towing companies, law enforcement, fire departments, and DOT agencies
- Operate hand tools, power tools, pumps, and spill-response equipment
- Deploy containment measures including booms, absorbents, diking, and recovery systems
- Conduct site safety assessments and identify environmental hazards
- Support demolition and cleanup activities related to contaminated structures or surfaces
- Follow all OSHA, EPA, DOT, and state environmental regulations
- Complete accurate documentation, incident reports, and material tracking for compliance and client reporting
- Participate in on-call and after-hours emergency response as required
Qualifications & Requirements
- Transportation incident response
- Hazwoper 40 Hr
- Petroleum or fuel spill cleanup
- Environmental remediation
- Towing, trucking, or heavy equipment operations
- Industrial or construction cleanup
- Working knowledge of petroleum products, spill containment, and remediation techniques
- Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and response equipment
- Strong understanding of job-site safety, PPE, and hazardous material handling
- Physically capable of performing manual labor in outdoor and roadway environments
- Ability to work in adverse conditions (weather, traffic zones, uneven terrain)
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Hazmat, OSHA, DOT, or environmental certifications are a plus (training provided)
