Position Title: Superintendent
Job Status: Full Time
Reports Directly to: Vice President – Field Operations
Summary of Position: Team leader that drives the job to completion through planning and management. The Superintendent must be focused on results for both the client and GDP, and will incorporate safety, production, and budget into every decision.
Experience Required: 5 years of experience in Heavy Civil Construction Site Superintendent.
Compensation: Competitive Base Salary, Annual Bonus, Company Vehicle, ESOP (100% Employee Owned), 401k employer match and full health benefits are offered as well as PTO.
Areas of Accountability:
- Review plans, specifications, and scope to become familiar with Project.
- Attend a site visit with project team to review scope and project layout.
- Compile list of questions, comments, or recommendations based on site visit and project scope.
- Review and understand the project schedule and update the team on any challenges you foresee.
- Attend the project turnover meeting with the project team and estimating to review scope, budget, pricing, and production requirements.
- Review and understand the project cost report and verify activity allocations with the project manager.
- Hold daily JSA meetings each morning and weekly toolbox talks and submit all documentation.
- JSA meeting should be submitted and tee up any support that may be needed for the scope that is being performed that day.
- Production planner should be utilized and updated weekly.
- Maintain up to date and thorough information and reporting on Heavy Job. This includes daily log, timecard, photographs, rain log, production quantities, and production planner.
- Responsible for daily timecards in which the crew will be paid from.
- Responsible for managing company resources daily to ensure the highest and best use is being achieved. Complete resource request form and submit for adding and removing resources on your project as needed.
- Responsible for scheduling of project to meet or exceed production goals. This includes a 3-week production planner.
- Responsible for all safety of the worksite in accordance with OSHA and GDP regulations.
- Ensure all testing of materials as specified are properly conducted and testing results are properly recorded. Coordinate with quality control personnel onsite.
- Responsible for onsite equipment utilization and allocation.
- Ensure the established preventative maintenance program is conducted on all equipment assigned to the project. Report all needed repairs to the equipment manager.
- Keep project team up to speed with potential problems, work interferences, changes in condition, schedule challenges, etc.
- Materials; Keep up to date on material coming to the site. Import/Export quantities, Pipe, MH’s, direct shipment, etc. Double check all deliveries against the packing slip or rock tickets for trucking and get them turned into the office immediately.
- Attend all project progress and scheduling meetings with the owner/ GC
- Maintain expert knowledge of plans, specifications, and any other information relating to the project.
- Responsible for all onsite communication and scheduling of subcontractors.
- Ensure the quality of work and safety practices exceed our client’s standards and expectations.
