X-Ray Technologist-PRN

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepares patients for radiologic procedures.  Protects patient, self, and other staff from radiation hazards.  Takes x-rays following established procedures for patient care and safety, which involves setting up and operating radiographic equipment used in the medical diagnosis and/or treatment of patients and includes implementing infection control procedures for the work area.  Positions patients and performs diagnostic radiographs. C-Arm experience is required.
• Maintains required records including patient records, daily logbooks, and monthly reports. Performs quantity and quality control checks to assure X-ray unit meets standards required by laws, rules, and departmental policies. Complies with safety standards.
• Cleans, maintains, and makes minor adjustments to radiographic equipment, including determining equipment repairs.
• Maintains radiographic supplies and orders as necessary.
• Ensures images are available for surgery at outside facility, if necessary.
• Other duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Education:  

• Associate degree in radiological technology from an accredited program.
• Registry by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology
• Current CPR/BLS Certification

Knowledge/Skills:

• Medical Terminology/Anatomy.
• Experience in computer usage.
• Knowledge of radiology equipment including safety hazards common to radiology.
• Positioning patients properly.
• Identifying equipment problems and correcting or notifying supervisor.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to multi-task efficiently and effectively.
• Must be able to act calmly and effectively in a busy or stressful situation.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT AND WORKING CONDITIONS

• Frequently move/lift between 50-100 pounds, depending on assignment requirements.
• Requires frequent bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling throughout regular work shift.
• Requires exposure to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to a clinic environment.
• Consistent attendance is required to assure that the facilities’ needs and patient needs are met.
• Sitting/Standing: Extended periods of sitting and/or standing in an open office environment
• Handling: Normal office activity including, keyboarding, interacting with others, participating in meetings, extended periods of sitting and/or standing in an open office environment, use of headset or telephone for extended periods of time.
• Repetitive motion: Frequent and regular use of the wrists, hands, and fingers to make small movements such as typing or picking up small objects. Normal fine and gross motor control of fingers and hands.
• Exposure to weather, uneven walking surfaces and office setting.
