Responsibilities

The Site Coordinator is responsible for research and training of key duties of the Georgetown Brain Bank (GBB) and Harris Neuropathology Research Lab. The site coordinator will assist in management of tissue biofluid procurement with the current Autopsy Coordinator, autopsy assistants, Assistant Director and Director. While the position will not require performing autopsies, it will require assisting with tissue sampling from human brains and spinal columns at the time of autopsy. The Site Coordinator supports the daily operations of the Georgetown University Department of Neurology’s Target ALS grant, ensuring the smooth execution of activities at the site level. This position requires knowledge lab management and safety. In this role, the coordinator provides coordination of Target ALS study activities, including supporting laboratory operations, and assisting with participant recruitment and enrollment at the site level. Key responsibilities include assisting with autopsies, managing material transfer agreements (MTAs), entering site data, and overseeing the collection, management, and storage of participant data and biosamples in appropriate databases at the site level. Additional duties include but are not limited to:

  • Support laboratory operations and ensure compliance with study protocol.
  • Assist with participant enrollment, consent processes, and biosample management.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Provide support during autopsies.
  • Prepare and submit Material Transfer Agreements (MTAs).
  • Enter and maintain accurate site data in study databases investigators requesting tissue
  • Manage the collection, labeling, storage, and transfer of biosamples and participant data to research
  • Reports to the Program Manager, TALS Study Pathologist, and TALS Principal Investigator to ensure study objectives, timelines, and deliverables are successfully met.
  • Ensure accurate execution of research protocols in accordance with regulatory and institutional standards.
  • Perform responsibilities with a high level of organization, accuracy, and interpersonal effectiveness.

Work Interactions

The Site Coordinator reports directly to the Program Manager and works closely with the Principal Investigator and Pathologist to support the successful execution of the Target ALS study within the Department of Neurology. By ensuring accurate study coordination, biosample management, and data integrity, the Site Coordinator helps advance the department’s research priorities and contributes to Georgetown University’s mission of academic excellence, scientific discovery, and service to the broader community.

Requirements And Qualifications

  • Two years of coordination experience in a research setting preferred
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology is preferred
  • Experience working in an academic medical center preferred
  • Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience in clinical research or health science discipline

Pay Range

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:

$20.16 - $31.30

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
